Who should take this course:

Anyone who is curious to learn more about the natural world. In class knowledge learning covers the incredible connections amongst forests and oceans. Our field day puts theoretical knowledge into practice, finding examples of what we have learned.

Everyone is welcome, no previous experience is necessary!

Course Schedule

This is a 3-day workshop held on:

  • Tuesday: 6PM – 8PM,
  • Thursday: 6PM – 8PM,
  • Saturday: 9AM – 4PM

What You Will Need:

Weekday class will be held indoors and will focus on the fundamentals of ecology and an overview of the natural history of coastal British Columbia. Participants should bring note-taking material, any personal snacks or water, and a face mask.

Weekend classes will be mostly outdoors and be primarily field-based, investigating forest, coastal and intertidal habitats. Participants should be prepared to spend the day outdoors.

Westcoast Adventure College provides instructors and safety equipment.

Gear List:

  • Waterproof outer layers (rain jacket and pants)
  • Waterproof footwear
  • Appropriate warm layers if it is cold/ rainy forecast (ex. mitts and toque)
