Aaron Jones

Aaron graduated from WAC in 2013. We caught up with him to see where his training has lead.

Where are you currently employed, and how long have you been there?

Currently, I work for Sun Peaks Snow Resort as Pro Patrol, been here since November, and before that I was an Advanced Cave Guide for Horne Lake Caves.

How did WAC help you get to where you are today?

The scenario based learning is a huge part of the professional guide training. “Bryan’s style of teaching first aid helped improve my first aid skills and has helped me to retain that knowledge. Some of the rope skills learnt from this program helped me to attain this job.”

How did WAC change your outlook on the adventure tourism industry?

It has shown me the potential and possibility of creating an alternative life style (a near permanent sort of vacation) for myself by working in the adventure tourism industry.

What was the most valuable lesson you took from WAC?

“There are Men Who are to Gentle to Live Among Wolves” by James Kavanaugh, Thanks Bryan!

Are you still in contact with other alumni from the course?

“Yeah, we are all fairly spread out now it seems but there’s always a few good tales to be told, beers to drink, and the promise of a good classic adventure.”
